Ragged Island Airport & Road Rehabilitation

As part of its efforts to improve infrastructure across the country, the Government of The Bahamas engaged IBS to create designs to rehabilitate the runway and the apron at the Duncan Town Airport and oversee the construction of rehabilitated roads in Ragged Island, Bahamas. Given that the project was partially funded by the European Union, an extra level of scrutiny and controls was imposed on the design and site teams. Our civil infrastructure design services included paving, grading and drainage. IBS provided contract administration services, representing the Government of The Bahamas during the construction phase of the project, and also provided construction quality control services throughout the installation of the works.
Exuma International Airport Rehabilitation
Location: Great Exuma, Bahamas

As a “Tier 1” airport, the Exuma International Airport was selected for upgrading and rehabilitation to meet new international standards and to accommodate the forecasted growth in air travel to the island. IBS performed a wide range of services for this project, including civil designs, design-phase project management, construction-phase project management, construction quality control and pre-design studies such as a geotechnical investigation and environmental baseline assessment. Our team included an airside planning and engineering specialist as well as other local and international service providers.
