COMMUNITY
Strong communities help cities to grow in ways that nurture social and economic development. We believe it is our responsibility to make a difference.
Doing good for our community, one
Popsicle stick at a time
Our major community project is the IBS Build-a-Bridge Challenge, the country’s only bridge building competition. The Challenge was established by our principal, Nick Dean, as a fun way to teach high school students about the applied sciences using engineering principles. Thanks to the support of the Ministry of Education and corporate Bahamas, 1,100 students have participated in the IBS Build-a-Bridge Challenge, building 220 bridges and using 22,000 Popsicle sticks. Participating in the IBS Build-a-Bridge Challenge has encouraged some of those students to pursue engineering degrees and careers.
Committed to developing the youth of The Bahamas
IBS presented the Bahamas CARIFTA swim team with a cheque to assist with purchasing swim gear for the 2022 CARIFTA Games. The amazing team of prolific swimmers brought the championship trophy home with a final count of 65 medals including 14 gold, 22 silver, and 29 bronze.
Empowering our youth, through unending support
Nick Dean (Principal) and Cedenyo Pratt (Director of Operations) congratulate Judo Champions, Daniel & Alexander Strachan, on their success in the 2022 US Open Judo Championships. The Strachan twins paid IBS a post-victory visit to express gratitude for our financial support of their journey to becoming international Judo Champions.
